Graphics - Photoshop

The apple I used, fully edited.

The basket of eggs I used, fully edited.
The olives I used, fully edited.

For these two images, I made both of them layers and removed the background as the background wasn't needed.

Here, I was cropping the table down to a size I thought was an appropriate size and so that it corresponded to the actual size of the original painting. To do this I used the Crop Tool.

Here, I was resizing one of my images, this was so it fitted easier onto my own interpret of the painting I chose. To do this I went into Image then Image Size and whilst changing the size of the image I changed the resolution from 72 to 150 as this would be a better quality image.

Here, I used the Art History Brush to create a paint like feel to the table. It was quite hard to do as to keep some sort of detail the brush had to be small so it didn't fully distort the table.

Here, I used the Lasso tool to select the areas of the image I didn't want. The easiest lasso tool was the Magnetic one as it picked up the differences in the colours and selected around the objects, this was less time consuming but could be quite difficult as the tool can't really differentiate the colours all too well.

Here, I used the Magic Wand to help me crop my images down to shape as this allowed me to select a certain colour and it would choose the majority of the colour, allowing me to crop any unnecessary colours. I found this tool quite useful as if the majority of the background was white it allowed an easier crop then using the Rubber tool as that way it would of took a long time.

Here, I'm looking through the Art History Brush to see which would create the perfect effect I was looking for. There was a wide range to choose from but the majority of them was ruled out as the shape of the brush wasn't acceptable or really necessary.

Here, I was hoping to find a Filter for the table to create a feeling that it was painted. I couldn't quite find the right Filter so I decided against using it.
Here, I changed the brightness of the table as in the original the table is quite dark and has very little light.
This is my version of Chrardin's piece of art called Apples and Basket of Eggs
For this project, I found it quite difficult to do as using Photoshop was new to me; also, I had no idea how difficult it would be to use it. Once, I got told what tools where what, it became slightly easier to use but I found it really time consuming, as you had to be very precise with how you edited the image. I also found it really difficult to create the same effects as the original and positioning my images to match Chardin's piece was the most difficult as the images I got would never be the same as the ones Chardin used. I found the project interesting at the start as I thought it'd be an interesting thing to do but as time went on I lost interest and found it a boring task. I feel I don't really have any strengths when it comes to this apart from trying to recreate the image but I even found it difficult to do that. However, I have quite a lot of weaknesses in which I hope to improve with time and practise. If I had to redo this project, I would do many things differently. Firstly, I would spend more time with editing the images I chose to give them a more painted 'feeling' to them and so they look more like the painting instead of a really bad Photoshop look to it. Next, I would ask for help when I was struggling, especially when I had no idea to create my own version. Finally, I would choose a less complicated image to try create the effects for as for my first time doing this it wasn't the easiest thing to achieve.
