Story Telling Photography

Sliding down a banister.

The quality of this set of photographs are they are in colour, all a rectangle shape and a decent amount of light can be seen in these pictures. For the first set of photos I was walking up the stairs as they were being taken, I was pausing at every other step to create the effect of me walking up the stairs. The only real problem encountered here was other people walking up and down the stairs and the only solution to this was waiting till the where out of the way.

Walking away.

Here, these pictures are all in colour, in a rectangle and as we are outside the pictures seem to contain the correct amount of light as none turned out too dark. For the first group of photos, it shows someone walking away from the camera, didn't really struggle with this set as with people walking through the picture makes it seem more realistic instead of staged, so there wasn't any problems that needed solving.

Ducking under bars.

Here, I used colour for these as it has more of an effect as well as them being rectangle as you get to see more. Due to being outside I feel that the correct amount of light is used so they turned out quite well. One problem I encountered was when someone walked in front of me as I was taking the pictures, another one was if she moved to fast or lost her balance it caused the picture to go blurry. The solution to the first one was to wait for them to move, however, for the second one it was a simple case of she had to hold the bars to keep herself balanced.

Walking along a wall.

Here, I used colour for these photographs as well as them being rectangle in shape, I feel there wasn't any need for them to be in black and white or any other shape. I think maybe the lighting wasn't as good as it should have been as there are quite a few trees in the background that caused less light to shine through them. This I found a problem but didn't really have a solution to resolve this. I also found how far away from the way I was a problem but I couldn't really resolve this as I felt if I zoomed in or moved you wouldn't really get the feel of her moving along the wall.

Washing hands.

Here, I used colour and made the photograph rectangle in shape as I felt this was the most appropriate. I quite like the lighting in these photographs as it creates quite a few shadows. There wasn't any real problems when taking this set but I feel that if the taps where on constant it would of looked better instead of having to constantly press them, so isn't really a solution here I could use.

The artist these photographs relate to most is Duane Michals as he's work shows time passing and that's what I was trying to demonstrate through all the sets of photographs as I find it quite interesting you can show this through the use of simple pictures.
